Ingredients

  • 1 (1 lb. 14 oz.) can pear halves
  • 1 (1 lb. 14 oz.) can peach halves
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 4 2-inch cinnamon sticks
  • 2 teaspoons whole cloves
  • 1 teaspoon whole allspice

Instructions

  1. Drain fruit syrup into a saucepan; add brown sugar, cider vinegar, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and allspice, then bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes.
  2. Pour the hot mixture over the drained fruit and cover tightly.
  3. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours to allow flavors to meld.
  4. Drain the fruit if desired before serving.
