- Arrange the halved acorn squash upside down in a shallow pan.
- Bake until almost tender, about 35 minutes.
- Turn the squash cut side up and sprinkle with salt to taste.
- Brush the cut sides with margarine.
- Sprinkle generously with brown sugar.
- Divide applesauce evenly between the squash halves.
- Return to the oven and bake for about 15 minutes until heated through.
