Steak rolls are a hearty and flavorful dish featuring tender beef wrapped around carrots, simmered with onions and potatoes. Perfect for family dinners or special occasions, this comfort food combines savory flavors with a satisfying, home-cooked appeal.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. round steak
  • 6 whole carrots
  • 2 large onions
  • potatoes

Instructions

  1. Cut the round steak into 3-inch or 4-inch strips.
  2. Wrap each steak strip around a carrot and secure with toothpicks.
  3. Brown the steak rolls in fat in a Dutch oven.
  4. Cut the onions into rings and place on top of the rolls.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Simmer until the rolls are almost tender; remove them from the pan.
  7. Place quartered potatoes at the bottom of the Dutch oven.
  8. Add water if the mixture is dry, and salt the potatoes.
  9. Return the steak rolls on top of the potatoes.
  10. Continue cooking until the potatoes are soft.
