Ingredients

  • 24 crabs (bodies and claws cleaned)
  • 5 c. water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. grease from fried-out white bacon (salt pork)
  • 1/2 c. cornmeal
  • 1 c. water

Instructions

  1. Bring water and salt to a boil.
  2. Drop the cleaned crabs into the boiling water with the bacon grease.
  3. Cook until the meat is white and the crabs turn red.
  4. Mix the cornmeal with water until smooth.
  5. Add the cornmeal mixture to the crabs and cook until thickened.
  6. Sprinkle pepper over the top and serve hot.
