Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 package frozen strawberries

Instructions

  1. Combine 1/2 cup sugar, cornstarch, salt, and milk in a saucepan and whisk until smooth.
  2. Cook and stir until the mixture boils and thickens.
  3. Remove from heat.
  4. Stir about a cup of the warmed mixture into the beaten egg yolk in a separate bowl.
  5. Add this egg mixture back into the saucepan with the hot mixture.
  6. Return to stove and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  7. Stir in vanilla and pour into a dish.
  8. Chill until set.
  9. Serve with thawed strawberries on top.
