Ingredients

  • 2 (3 oz.) strawberry or raspberry jello
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 pint fresh strawberries or raspberries
  • 1 to 1.5 cups sugar
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 pint whipping cream
  • 1 day old 10 inch angel food cake

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly mix the jello, boiling water, fresh fruit, sugar, and lemon juice until combined.
  2. Chill the mixture until it reaches egg white consistency.
  3. Whip the whipping cream until stiff peaks form.
  4. Fold the whipped cream into the chilled jello mixture gently.
  5. Tear the angel food cake into pieces.
  6. Place a layer of cake bits in a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  7. Spoon some of the jello and cream mixture over the cake layer.
  8. Repeat layering with cake and jello mixture until all ingredients are used.
  9. Chill the assembled dessert for several hours before serving.
