- Bake the yellow cake according to package instructions for a 2-layer cake and cool completely.
- Slice the cake layers in half and place them in the freezer.
- Slice the fresh strawberries and mix them with the strawberry glaze, reserving 3 tablespoons of the mixture for the top.
- With a mixer, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, thawed whipped topping, and powdered sugar until well blended.
- Place a frozen halved cake layer on a serving platter.
- Spread a thin coating of the cream cheese mixture on the layer.
- Cover with 1/3 of the strawberry glaze mixture.
- Repeat the process with the next two frozen halved layers.
- Top with the remaining frozen halved layer and spread the remaining cream cheese mixture over the top.
- Place the reserved 3 tablespoons of strawberry glaze in the center of the cake.
- Decorate with the whole strawberries.
