  • 1/2 pound chopped meat
  • 1 can stewed tomatoes without juice
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 chopped pepper
  • 4 ounces mozzarella cheese
  • garlic

Instructions

  1. Brown the chopped meat, chopped pepper, and chopped onion in 2 tablespoons of oil with garlic.
  2. Add the stewed tomatoes without juice to the meat mixture.
  3. Drain all liquid from the mixture so it is very dry.
  4. Flatten the crescent rolls into one sheet and press seams together to eliminate holes.
  5. Place the meat and vegetable mixture on one half of the crescent roll sheet and fold the other half over.
  6. Press the edges together to seal.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 35 minutes until the crust is golden brown.

Tips & Substitutions

For a flavor boost, consider adding Italian herbs like oregano or basil to the meat mixture. You can substitute the chopped meat with Italian sausage or turkey for a lighter option. If you prefer a vegetarian version, use a mix of sautéed mushrooms and spinach. Also, using fresh garlic instead of powdered garlic will enhance the overall taste.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Strombolis with a side of marinara sauce for dipping. A fresh salad or garlic bread pairs beautifully with this dish for a complete meal. For a comforting dinner, consider serving it alongside Pasta Alfredo or Linguine Al Pesto to satisfy your Italian cravings.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover Strombolis in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 10-15 minutes until warmed through. Avoid microwaving, as it can make the crust soggy.
