Ingredients

  • 1 medium cabbage head
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 2 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce or V-8 juice

Instructions

  1. Trim off the outside of the cabbage.
  2. Cook the cabbage in boiling water for 45 minutes or until almost tender.
  3. Remove the cabbage from water and drain.
  4. Reserve 1/4 cup of cabbage water.
  5. Core the cabbage, making a cavity through the cabbage.
  6. Mix ground beef or turkey with chopped onion, garlic powder, and 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce.
  7. Stuff the meat mixture into the cabbage cavity.
  8. Place the stuffed cabbage in a deep pot.
  9. Pour remaining tomato sauce over the cabbage.
  10. Cover and cook for about 1 hour at 350°F.
  11. Remove from heat and serve with sauce.
