Substitute Scrapple

Ingredients

  • 1 pint canned hamburger or sausage
  • 1 to 1 1/2 quarts water
  • salt
  • pepper
  • dash of sage
  • cornmeal

Instructions

  1. Cook hamburger or sausage until browned.
  2. Add seasonings including salt, pepper, and dash of sage.
  3. Pour in water and bring to a boil.
  4. Gradually add cornmeal until the mixture thickens.
  5. Add flour to help set up the mixture.
  6. Pour mixture into pans and let cool.
  7. Slice the cooled mixture.
  8. Fry the slices until golden and crispy.
