Ingredients

  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 well beaten eggs
  • 5 c. flour (self-rising)

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Mix shortening in boiling water and let cool somewhat.
  3. Combine the cooled shortening mixture with the dissolved yeast.
  4. Add sugar, salt, well beaten eggs, and flour to the mixture.
  5. Mix well and let the dough rise until doubled in size.
  6. Roll out the dough and cut into desired shapes.
  7. Place the cut dough into a pan.
  8. Let the rolls rise again until doubled in size.
  9. Bake at 400°F until golden brown and cooked through.
