Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cream the sugar and Crisco together until well blended.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk and baking soda until combined.
  4. Sift together flour and baking powder.
  5. Alternate adding the flour mixture and buttermilk mixture to the creamed mixture, starting and ending with the flour.
  6. Stir in vanilla extract.
  7. Pour batter into prepared baking pan and bake at 350°F for 10 minutes.
