Ingredients

  • 2 c. pickling salt
  • 10 c. water
  • 5% vinegar
  • grape leaves
  • dill seed or fresh dill
  • hot pepper
  • garlic
  • cucumbers

Instructions

  1. Bring water and pickling salt to a boil; then set aside to cool.
  2. Prepare a brine with the cooled saltwater and vinegar.
  3. Add grapes leaves, dill seed or fresh dill, hot peppers, garlic, and cucumbers to a jar or fermentation vessel.
  4. Pour the cooled brine over the vegetables and herbs, ensuring they are fully submerged.
  5. Cover and allow to ferment at room temperature for several days to weeks, tasting periodically.
