Ingredients

  • 1 c. slivered almonds
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. oleo
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. sour milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. almond flavoring

Instructions

  1. Brown the slivered almonds in the oven.
  2. Mix eggs, sugar, and oleo together.
  3. Add sour milk, soda, and almond flavoring to the mixture.
  4. Gradually add flour, mixing until the dough is manageable.
  5. Stir in the toasted almonds.
  6. Form the dough into two long rolls on a cookie sheet.
  7. Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 45 minutes.
  8. Let the rolls cool slightly, then cut into slices on an angle.
  9. Lay out the slices on a cookie sheet and dry at 200°F (93°C) for 45 minutes, turning once.
