Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 8 ounces cold butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, salt, and sugar in a mixing bowl.
  2. Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse meal.
  3. Add the lightly beaten egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Work the mixture until it forms a dough ball.
  5. If dry, add 1 or 2 teaspoons water until manageable.
  6. Knead the dough 5 or 6 times on a floured surface.
  7. Divide the dough into 3 balls.
  8. Wrap each ball and chill in the refrigerator.
