- Boil the sweet potatoes until tender, then cool and peel.
- Cut the sweet potatoes into small slices.
- Core and pare the Granny Smith apples.
- Quarter the apples and slice them thin.

- In a saucepan, melt the butter or margarine and add the light brown sugar, Karo syrup, and cinnamon to make a candied sauce.
- Bring the sauce to a boil and cook until thickened.
- Pour the thickened sauce over the layered casserole.
- Bake until the apples are soft and the glaze is bubbly.
