Ingredients

  • 2 cans French style green beans, drained
  • 1 can water chestnuts, drained and diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped or sliced
  • 7 slices bacon, crisply fried and crushed
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 3 Tbsp. bacon fat

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together green beans, water chestnuts, onion, and crushed bacon.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together sugar, vinegar, and bacon fat.
  3. Pour the sugar-vinegar mixture into the bean mixture and stir to coat evenly.
  4. Pour the mixture into a baking dish and let stand for several hours or overnight.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 minutes before serving.
