Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. chopped dried pears
  • 1/2 c. chopped pitted prunes
  • 1/2 c. mixed dried fruits
  • 1/4 c. grape juice
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tsp. orange peel

Instructions

  1. Soak dried fruit in juice several hours.
  2. In a large mixer bowl, stir flour, yeast and spices.
  3. Heat milk, butter, sugar and salt to warm (to 120°).
  4. Add to dry mixture.
  5. Add eggs and shredded orange peel.
  6. Beat with mixer on low speed.
  7. Beat 3 minutes on high speed.
  8. Stir in fruit mixture, walnuts and 2 to 2 1/2 cups flour to make soft dough.
  9. Knead 8 to 10 minutes.
  10. Use dough hook.
  11. Shape in ball.
  12. Place in greased bowl.
  13. Let rise until double.
  14. Shape in 2 loaves.
  15. Let rise 60 minutes.
  16. Bake in a 375° oven for 35 minutes.
