Ingredients

  • 6 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Frosting

Instructions

  1. Combine eggs, sugar, flour, shortening, milk, and vanilla in a large mixer bowl; beat well.
  2. Pour 3 tablespoons of batter into each of 10 greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. Bake at 400°F for 4 to 5 minutes or until light brown.
  4. Remove from oven and transfer to wire racks to cool.
  5. Spread frosting between layers and over the top of the cake.
