Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup warm water
  • 2 packages dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups warm milk
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 to 7 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons wheat germ
  • 1 1/2 cups diced, pitted prunes
  • 2/3 cup chopped nuts
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

  1. Stir warm water, dry yeast, warm milk, honey, salt, vegetable oil, and eggs together thoroughly.
  2. Use 1/4 cup of flour to dredge the diced, pitted prunes.
  3. Mix dry ingredients together and add to the liquid mixture.
  4. Add the dredged prunes and chopped nuts to the mixture.
  5. Knead the dough for several minutes until smooth.
  6. Place the dough in greased loaf pans.
  7. Let the dough rise about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  8. Punch down the dough to release air.
  9. Let the dough rise again for about 30 minutes.
  10. Bake in a 350°F oven for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
