Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 cup Thai fish sauce (nam pla)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons minced Thai chili or jalapeno
  • 2 small tomatoes, peeled, seeded, cored and diced
  • 2 small cucumbers, peeled, seeded and diced
  • 2 (12 oz.) pieces flank steak
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Prepare a charcoal fire.
  2. Combine the lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, and chili in a large glass or ceramic bowl.
  3. Add the diced tomatoes and cucumbers to the bowl.
  4. Toss the salad ingredients together.
  5. Refrigerate the salad until ready to serve.
  6. Grill the steaks over hot coals until medium rare, about 3 to 5 minutes per side.
  7. Let the steaks stand for 5 minutes after grilling.
  8. Slice the meat across the grain into thin slices.
  9. Add the sliced steak to the salad.
  10. Add the mint leaves and toss well.
  11. Serve at room temperature.
