Ingredients

  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. cocoa
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 5 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla flavoring
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 stick margarine

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, sugar, and cocoa in a saucepan.
  2. Add milk and egg yolks to the dry ingredients and cook until thick, constantly stirring.
  3. Remove from heat; add butter (or margarine) and vanilla flavoring.
  4. Pour the hot filling into a cooked pie shell.
  5. Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  6. Spread or pipe the egg whites on top of the filling.
  7. Broil in the oven until the meringue is browned.
