Throwed Rolls

- Combine sugar and yeast in tepid water. Let stand 5 to 10 minutes, until foamy.
- Mix milk, butter, sugar, egg, and salt in a large bowl.
- Stir in yeast mixture and 3 1/2 cups flour, adding a bit more to make a soft, pliable dough.
- Turn dough onto a floured board and let rest while you clean and butter the bowl.
- Knead dough for 4 to 5 minutes, adding flour if necessary.
- Return to bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
- Butter muffin tins.
- Punch down the dough.
- Pinch off pieces to fill 1/2 of each muffin cup and roll into balls.
- Place 2 balls into each muffin cup.
- Cover loosely with plastic and let rise for 45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
