Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup oleo
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 slightly beaten egg whites
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. Cream oleo and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  2. Add egg yolks, vanilla, and salt; mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour and mix until combined.
  4. Shape the dough into small balls.
  5. Dip each ball into slightly beaten egg whites.
  6. Then roll the balls in chopped walnuts.
  7. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 5 minutes.
  8. Remove from oven and press your thumb into the center of each cookie.
  9. Bake for an additional 10 to 12 minutes until golden.
  10. Cool cookies on wire racks and fill with frosting as desired.
