- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Melt butter in a 15 x 10-inch jelly roll pan.
- Spread pecan pieces evenly in the pan.
- Bake for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to toast the pecans.
- Place the chocolate flavored candy coating in the top of a double boiler.
- Bring water to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cook until coating melts, about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and cool for 2 minutes.
- Add toasted pecans to the melted coating and stir until evenly coated.
- Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto wax paper.
- Allow to cool completely before serving.
