Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups fine ground corn meal
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat an iron skillet and lightly grease it.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg and then stir in the milk.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing well.
  5. Add hot water as needed to achieve a pourable batter consistency.
  6. Pour the batter into the preheated skillet.
  7. Bake until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
