Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. soft shortening
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in water.
  2. Stir in the sugar, flour, and salt; beat until smooth.
  3. Add the soft shortening, egg, and 1 1/4 cups more flour; beat until smooth.
  4. Scrape down sides of bowl and seal.
  5. Let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes.
