Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground turkey
  • 1 lb. hot Italian turkey sausage
  • 2 large golden onions, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 2 (28 oz.) cans whole peeled tomatoes
  • 1 (12 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. thyme
  • 1 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. red hot pepper
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 5 to 6 lb. corned beef brisket
  • 3 Tbsp. pickling spice
  • prepared mustard
  • mixed fruit jelly
  • sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Place brisket in boiling water to cover in a large pot.
  2. Add pickling spice and simmer for 3 1/2 to 4 hours or until tender.
  3. Remove brisket from pan and let stand for 15 minutes.
  4. Place brisket in a baking pan and lightly cover the surface with prepared mustard.
  5. Let stand for 10 minutes to allow mustard to penetrate the meat.
  6. Spread fruit jelly over the brisket and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  7. Bake at 375°F for 15 to 20 minutes or until glazed.
