Turtle Cake Squares

- Melt caramels and 1/4 cup evaporated milk in a heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly; or microwave for 3 minutes, stirring after each minute. Set aside.
- Prepare the German Chocolate cake mix according to package instructions and spread evenly in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Pour the melted caramel mixture over the cake batter.
- Sprinkle finely chopped nuts over the caramel layer.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, sprinkle semi-sweet chocolate chips over the hot cake and let sit until melted.
- Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the top.
- Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.
