Ingredients

  • 1 (9-inch) baked pastry shell
  • 12 caramels, unwrapped
  • 14 oz. can Eagle Brand condensed milk
  • 1 oz. unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
  2. Melt the caramels with 1/3 cup of condensed milk over low heat.
  3. Spread the caramel mixture evenly over the baked pastry shell.
  4. Melt the chocolate and margarine over low heat.
  5. Beat the eggs with the remaining condensed milk, water, vanilla, and salt.
  6. Add the melted chocolate mixture to the beaten eggs and mix well.
  7. Pour the chocolate mixture over the caramel layer in the pastry shell.
  8. Top with chopped pecans.
  9. Bake for 35 minutes or until the center is set.
  10. Cool and chill before serving.
