Tips & Substitutions

For a lighter version, substitute half of the butter with olive oil. If you don't have Marsala wine, white wine or chicken broth can work as a substitute. Make sure to let the veal rest after cooking to retain its juices, ensuring a tender bite. Consider using fresh herbs like parsley or thyme to elevate the dish's flavor.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Veal Francaise over a bed of pasta like rotini or alongside a fresh salad for a balanced meal. It pairs beautifully with Sicilian-Style Lemon Chicken for a delightful Italian feast. A crisp white wine or light red enhances the flavors, making it a perfect choice for entertaining.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the veal in a skillet over low heat, adding a splash of broth or water to prevent drying out. Cover the pan to keep the moisture in, and heat until warmed through.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use chicken instead of veal?

Yes, you can substitute chicken for veal in this recipe. Use thinly sliced chicken breasts and follow the same cooking instructions. Chicken recipes often lend themselves well to this cooking style, providing a delicious alternative.

What can I serve with Veal Francaise?

Pairing Veal Francaise with a side of sautéed vegetables or a light pasta dish enhances the meal. Fresh Basil-Tomato Spaghetti can complement the flavors beautifully. A simple arugula salad with lemon vinaigrette also works well.

How do I know when the veal is cooked properly?

Veal should be cooked to an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C). It should appear light pink in the center and be tender. Overcooking can lead to dryness, so keep an eye on it to ensure it stays juicy.
