Ingredients

  • 8 egg whites
  • 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 8 beaten egg yolks
  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar and salt until very light.
  2. Gradually beat into this mixture the sugar and beaten egg yolks.
  3. Fold in cake flour and vanilla.
  4. Pour batter into a tube pan and bake for 45 minutes at 350°F.
  5. Remove from oven and turn the tube pan upside down until the cake is cool.
  6. Frost with Vienna Icing.
