Tips & Substitutions

For a lighter texture, make sure the milk is just scalded and not boiled. If you don't have whole wheat flour, you can substitute with more all-purpose flour, but the rolls will be less nutritious. Ensure your yeast is fresh for the best rise. A touch of honey can replace some sugar for a different flavor profile.

Serving Suggestions

These whole wheat rolls are perfect served warm alongside soups and stews, or as a base for sandwiches. They also pair beautifully with Red Hot Applesauce Salad for a delightful contrast of flavors. For a brunch option, serve with butter and jam or as part of a larger spread with Marion's Candy.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover rolls in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze them in a zip-top bag for up to 3 months. To reheat, simply wrap in foil and warm in a 350°F (175°C) oven for about 10-15 minutes until heated through.
