Wholewheat Herb Quick Bread
Ingredients
- 1 cup whole wheat flour ⓘ
- 1 cup all-purpose flour ⓘ
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (we like mature cheddar) ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon honey (or sugar) ⓘ
- 2 teaspoons baking powder ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon dried basil ⓘ
- 12 teaspoons dried sage ⓘ
- 14 teaspoons dried thyme ⓘ
- 1/4 cup cold butter ⓘ
- 1 large egg ⓘ
- 1/2 cup natural yoghurt ⓘ
- 1/2 cup milk ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon poppy seed ⓘ
Instructions
- Sift together dry ingredients.
- Add herbs and cheese.
- Cut in butter until it resembles fine crumbs.
- Beat together egg, yoghurt and milk.
- Add to dry ingredients to moisten - do not overmix.
- Batter will be moist.
- Spoon dough into greased 9 inch round cake pan.
- Sprinkle with poppy seeds.
- Oven: 375.
