Ingredients

  • 4 to 5 slices bacon
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 lb. beef
  • 1 can consomme soup
  • 3/4 cup sherry or wine
  • 1 sliced onion

Instructions

  1. Brown bacon with chopped onion in a pan, then place in a casserole dish.
  2. Cut beef into 1-inch pieces, then brown in bacon fat.
  3. Add beef to the casserole dish.
  4. Put consomme soup and sherry into the pan used to brown the beef.
  5. Slice onion and carrots into the liquid and bring to a boil.
  6. Pour the mixture over the meat in the casserole dish.
  7. Bake in the oven at 300°F for 3 hours.
  8. Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans.
