Ingredients

  • 5 gallons cabbage, shredded
  • 1/2 gallon red and green peppers, chopped
  • 6 bunches celery, chopped
  • 4 teaspoons ground mustard
  • 1 box celery seed
  • 10 pounds sugar

Instructions

  1. Mix the chopped cabbage, red and green peppers, and chopped celery together in a large crock or bowl.
  2. In a separate container, combine vinegar, sugar, ground mustard, and celery seed; stir until well mixed.
  3. Pour the vinegar mixture over the vegetables in the crock.
  4. Mix thoroughly to coat all vegetables evenly.
  5. Cover lightly and do not put on weight.
  6. Store in a cool place; it will keep for a long time.
