  2. Cut in the shortening (Crisco) until the mixture is fine and crumbly.
  3. Heat the buttermilk until lukewarm.
  4. Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm buttermilk.
  5. Mix the yeast mixture with the dry ingredients and knead well.
  6. Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
  7. Cut into rounds or squares, as preferred.
  8. Brush the tops with butter, then place another piece on top and brush the top with butter as well.
  9. Let the biscuits rise for a few minutes before baking at 350°F for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
