Yellow Cake Deluxe

- Cream the butter until smooth, then gradually add sugar, creaming until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla, beating until fluffy.
- Sift together cake flour, baking powder, and 1 teaspoon salt.
- Alternately add the flour mixture and milk to the creamed mixture, starting and ending with the flour, beating after each addition.
- Beat the mixture for 1 minute after all ingredients are incorporated.
- Pour batter into two greased and lightly floured 9-inch round layer pans.
- Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 30 to 35 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and cool completely.
- Fill the cake layers with Lemon Filling and frost with Seven Minute Frosting.
