Ingredients

  • 3 cups sifted cake flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Mix all dry ingredients: sifted cake flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cream together sugar, egg yolks, butter, and vanilla until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the beaten egg whites into the batter until well combined.
  6. Pour the batter into a tube pan.
  7. Bake at 325°F (160°C) for 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
