Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage, shredded
  • 2 onions, chopped
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 3/4 cup corn oil
  • 1 tablespoon ground mustard
  • 1 tablespoon celery seed

Instructions

  1. Shred or grate the cabbage.
  2. Peel the onions and slice them.
  3. Combine sugar, vinegar, corn oil, mustard, and celery seed; bring to a boil.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool.
  5. Layer the shredded cabbage and sliced onions alternately in a container.
  6. Pour the cooled dressing over the layered cabbage and onions.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for 3 days before serving.
