Advent Crescents

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups ground almonds
  • 1 cup butter
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • powdered sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Sift flour and salt into a bowl.
  2. Mix in sugar and ground almonds. Make a well in the center.
  3. Add butter, egg yolks, and almond extract to the well.
  4. Mix well using hands until dough forms.
  5. Refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Shape dough into tiny balls, then roll each ball into ropes.
  8. Place on a cookie sheet and curve each into a crescent shape.
  9. Bake until lightly brown.
  10. Cool the cookies and then roll in powdered sugar.
