Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread
  • 1 quart half and half
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup golden raisins
  • 3/4 cup sliced almonds

Instructions

  1. Break up the bread into small pieces and place in a medium bowl.
  2. Pour the half and half over the bread, cover, and let stand for 1 hour.
  3. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
  4. Grease a 9 x 13 x 2-inch baking dish with butter.
  5. In a small bowl, beat the eggs, sugar, and almond extract until well combined.
  6. Stir the egg mixture into the bread mixture.
  7. Gently fold in the golden raisins and sliced almonds.
  8. Spread the bread mixture evenly in the buttered baking dish.
  9. Bake on the middle rack for 50 minutes until golden and set.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
