Ingredients

  • 5 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 pkg yeast
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup warm water

Instructions

  1. Cut the Crisco into the self-rising flour until well incorporated.
  2. Add sugar and buttermilk to the mixture and stir with a spoon until combined.
  3. Dissolve the yeast in warm water, then add it to the flour mixture.
  4. Shape the mixture into rolls and let them rise for 30 minutes.
  5. Bake at 450 degrees Fahrenheit until golden brown.
  6. For refrigeration, refrigerate the shaped rolls and let them rise for 45 minutes after taking them out of the refrigerator before baking.
