Ingredients

  • 1 lb bacon
  • 1/2 cup margarine or butter
  • 4 cups unseasoned croutons
  • 2 cups grated cheese
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut up bacon and brown until crisp; drain.
  2. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  3. Melt margarine or butter in a 9 x 12-inch baking dish.
  4. Pour unseasoned croutons on top of the melted margarine.
  5. Sprinkle grated cheese over the croutons.
  6. Beat eggs, milk, salt, and pepper; pour over the layered ingredients.
  7. Sprinkle cooked bacon on top.
  8. Bake uncovered for one hour.
  9. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
