Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground chuck
  • 2 cans tomato soup
  • 1 (1 lb.) can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 can chili beans
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 Tbsp. cumin
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1/2 cup grated Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet or pot, cook the ground chuck over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  2. While the meat is cooking, chop the onion.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the cooked meat and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in the cumin, chili powder, salt, and black pepper, cooking for another minute to toast the spices.
  5. Add the tomato soup, stewed tomatoes, and chili beans (if using) to the mixture.
  6. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook uncovered for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Serve hot, sprinkled with grated Cheddar cheese.
