Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 8 to 12 apples, sliced
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, butter, salt, and vanilla. Press into the bottom of a 9 x 12-inch pan, saving some crumbs for the top.
  2. Boil apple slices in 1/4 cup water until partly done.
  3. Add 1 cup granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons cornstarch to the apples.
  4. Pour the apple mixture over the crust.
  5. Sprinkle the reserved crumbs on top.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes.
