Ingredients

  • 4 apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. In a greased 2-quart casserole, mix the peeled and diced apples with brown sugar. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, blend the milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract.
  4. Stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients just until moistened.
  5. Spoon the batter over the sugared apples in the casserole dish.
  6. Sprinkle with chopped nuts and top with 2 tablespoons of sugar.
  7. Bake in a 350°F oven for 45 to 50 minutes until golden and bubbly.
