- Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease a 10-inch tube pan.
- Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
- Stir in the chopped walnuts and set aside.
- Combine the sugar, vegetable oil, vanilla, and eggs in a separate bowl.
- Stir in the peeled, chopped tart apples into the wet mixture.
- Pour the apple mixture into the flour mixture and stir just until moistened; the batter will be stiff.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared tube pan and spread evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool the cake in the pan on a wire rack for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Remove from the pan and cool completely on the wire rack.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
