- Combine water and lemon juice in a bowl.
- Pour the water and lemon juice mixture over peeled, sliced apples in a greased shallow baking dish.
- Cover and bake in a 375°F oven for 15 minutes or until apples are partly cooked.
- In a separate bowl, mix together tapioca, brown sugar, salt, and nutmeg.
- Sprinkle the tapioca mixture over the partly cooked apples, mixing thoroughly.
- Add melted butter on top.
- Continue baking for 10 minutes.
- Stir the mixture well and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
- Serve hot or cold, optionally with cream.
