Ingredients

  • 3 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup tapioca
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Combine water and lemon juice in a bowl.
  2. Pour the water and lemon juice mixture over peeled, sliced apples in a greased shallow baking dish.
  3. Cover and bake in a 375°F oven for 15 minutes or until apples are partly cooked.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together tapioca, brown sugar, salt, and nutmeg.
  5. Sprinkle the tapioca mixture over the partly cooked apples, mixing thoroughly.
  6. Add melted butter on top.
  7. Continue baking for 10 minutes.
  8. Stir the mixture well and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
  9. Serve hot or cold, optionally with cream.
