Applequed Pork Chops combine tender pork steaks with a sweet and tangy applesauce and tomato sauce glaze, perfect for a comforting family dinner with bold flavors.

Ingredients

  • 6 pork steaks (1/2-inch thick)
  • 3 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 3/4 c. applesauce
  • 8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 to 3 drops Tabasco sauce

Instructions

  1. Brown the pork steaks in shortening and place in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
  2. Cook the sliced onion in the skillet until tender.
  3. Place the cooked onion on top of the steaks.
  4. Mix the remaining ingredients (applesauce, tomato sauce, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, Tabasco) and pour over the steaks.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes or until the pork is tender.
